How Expensive Are Your Habits?

I wrote recently about the Road to Ruin = Lycra - re my habitual morning latte, referring to an article about how it can mean an increase in weight of a good 10 1bs over a year and how much of this can go unnoticed because of the abundance of lycra in our clothing today.

As an aside I mentioned how, over the same said space of time, this sanity saving ritual could account for quite a bit of my overdraft, and this actually came as quite a bit of a  shock.  It proved to be a good reality check though because it meant I have immediately cut right back on them.

It's stupid, I know, but I'd never thought to ask myself before!

Here is an interesting
Infographic however - which actually does the deed and asks how much we're spending on our habits.  Just click on the link at the bottom and it guides you through.  Fortunately / unfortunately, copious coffees and daily newspapers aren't included, but you can add in anything you're guilty of to see where you can save some dosh.  But be warned - be sure you're sitting down before totalling!

  1. Phew, mine wasn't too bad! But it didn't include my worst habit which is... shopping at Waitrose. Terrible I know ;) I could save money shopping at a different supermarket but I just enjoy the good customer service and the non-hectic aisles too much!

  4. I shall be getting the OH to do this. He has a secret Waitrose habit, which completely undermines my attempts at frugality in the pleasure dome that is Aldi. He also refuses to buy any other ice cream brand other than Haagen Dazs!

    1. Do let me know how he gets on and whether you're still speaking to each other afterwards. I heard a woman on the phone in Aldi once telling someone she was just in Waitrose! X

  5. Well a new Morrisons has just opened up around the corner, so that is saving a few pennies BUT I have developed a rather hard habit for buying bags of sweet and salted popcorn. Yum. X
