Blogging My Own Back Yard.

I went walking recently, as we do regularly living by the coast. Everything seemed to have taken on a prettier light in this extended summer we're having.

Still a numpty with my iPhone but loving these pics, I thought I'd share them anyway. Sometimes, you don't have to be clever with a camera when the subjects themselves are so awesome, although some close ups would have been nice, admittedly.

It's easy to take these views for granted when they're there almost every day, but on this particular Sunday -which I suppose you could call our first Autumnal one they spoke to me differently. Long may it continue!

What do you think?

  1. I was so thrilled when you said extended Summer, but the word Autumn got in there in the end :-( I am just pretending Autumn isn't happening. The temperatures on the mercury were helping with my denial, but now I have 3 autumn leaves on my lawn, so I may just have to accept it. I remember when I did the school run in the car with you, I was telling you to appreciate your views. They really are stunning and you are blessed me dear friend. Despite your phone camera, the photos are exquisite so fret ye not.
    Love, Liska xx

  2. There's a lot to be said for backyard blogging. I remember the travel panel at last year's BritMums conference and one of the speakers suggested that bloggers who want to write about travel, but don't get away very often, can be a source of great info on the internet if they write and post photos of their own surroundings.
My favourite photo here is the one with the boat in the middle.

    1. I remember that panel Trish - and it's what gave me the idea and confidence to just go with it :) I know what you mean about that pic x

  3. The picture with the sailboat looks like it could be an oil painting. Or should be. Happy Autumn. xx

  4. Beautiful. I am a great believer in liking what I see aiming the camera. These are lovely photos and a lovely post - appreciating our near spaces is a good thing.

  5. Lovely views, and they might be so familiar to you, but they are someone else's idea of an ideal holiday location. :)

  6. Those are such beautiful views and such a contrast to my Autumn pics from earlier this week. Beautiful photos too, you sell yourself short as you have a really good eye for a good photo

  7. You are so lucky to live by the coast, I would love it but my dear GM is very much a landlubber. I spent 3 months living in Brighton back in the winter of 1986/7 and really loved it. Sea views are so much more noticeably changeable over short period of time, and I can quite understand how they can talk to you.
    Joy x x

    1. Oh 'tis not lucky Joy - I made a conscious decision to live down here and to buy our house as close as poss to the coast! I'm so glad you spent some time here. Brighton is quite changed to when I arrived 20 years ago - a thriving city now, but the sea's still here and the views are still gorgeous xxx

  8. Oh how very gorgeous. Now question is what is your local Uni like lol.
You know as I snapped a photo local to me the other day I thought about doing a post just like this- but without these gorgeous views.

  14. I have been loving the weather and enjoying my backdoors too. When running I keep stopping to take a photo which kinda defeats the object of running!!

  15. Love these fabulous photos Anya.
One of my daughters lives by the sea and I can't believe that she hasn't been to the beach since heading back to uni. We live over 100 miles from the coast here and I crave to go to the beach whenever the sun's out!
Here's to making the most of the weather for as long as possible.
